The FTCE General Knowledge Exam is required to be taken (and passed) before a student can apply for the combined Bachelor's/Master's degree track. It's super similar to the SAT/ACT if you're familiar; it is a 4 section, 5 hour test. It assesses your knowledge in reading comprehension, english language skills (grammar), math, and an essay. It costs $130 your first attempt and $150 every time after that if needed. I was super nervous going into the test. I thought it was going to be incredibly difficult and the questions would be tricky, rather than straightforward. Luckily, I was completely wrong! I had absolutely no trouble with this exam, in fact, I found it very easy. For me, the most difficult portion was the reading section. I only thought this because of the time constraint and lengthy reading passages. However, the questions that accompanied the texts were very simple, so they didn't require much time. The easiest section for me was the math, which I was very surprised it because math is not my strong suit...never has been...never will be. But, my nerves were calmed when I realized a formula sheet was provided, and nothing really went above algebra 2. Calculators were allowed, but only the digital one the test provides. I was so anxious prior to the exam, I barely slept the night before because I knew how much was riding on my success on this one test. Please don't freak out as much as I did. Totally not worth it. Brush up on standardized test-type questions (you can find plenty of sample questions online), review grammar rules, and most importantly RELAX. A healthy mental space allows for full concentration on the task at hand. If you have any other questions about it, please feel free to shoot me an email! Good luck!
